Danyal takes two bullets to his chest. He slowly turns his face to the wall, leaning his left cheek against it. Maybe this wall is a thousand years old. Danyal's barren face is as wrinkled and old as the wall. He slowly falls to the ground, his left cheek pressed against the wall, and dies. May his soul rest in peace; he was a very good and "bad" man. Danyal Topatan was born on January 1, 1916, in Tarsus, Mersin, during the bloodiest times of World War I. While everyone thought he was from Adana, this was because he had spent so much time there. He was one of three children of a poor Armenian family. His real name was Danyel Bayriyan. He would later be known publicly as Ahmet Danyal Bayri, and in the cinema, everyone would know him as Danyal Topatan. His educational journey was brief; he only studied through the first year of middle school. His father was a small-time shopkeeper, and he started working at the age of 12 or 13 to help his father. He tried many jobs in Mersin. He earned his living by working in various professions for years. He carried iron and cement to construction sites, worked as a laborer in the cotton fields, and carried goods to homes on his back. As he grew older, he developed an interest in theater. He even formed a small theater group with a group of friends in Mersin to pursue his theatrical career and tried to perform on small stages, but to no avail. Believing he had little prospects in Mersin, Danyal Topatan moved to Istanbul to seek his livelihood in the big city. This young man, consumed by a passion for theater and cinema, found his new home on Yeşilçam Street. Over time, he would become a regular fixture at morning coffeehouses. Finally, he managed to break into Yeşilçam, albeit from his backyard. He began working as a film set worker. He worked a variety of jobs, from set worker to decorator. He worked in the offices of film companies. This man, fascinated by cinema, was sure to find success one day. He initially appeared in small roles, occasionally working as a stuntman, but over time, his roles began to grow. His talent was recognized, and he soon became a master character actor. This stern-looking, wooden-faced man, thanks in part to his appearance, would star in many films. His first major breakthrough came in 1953 in the film Dracula in Istanbul, directed by Mehmet Muhtar. His portrayal of a cemetery keeper earned him considerable acclaim. He followed that with Beyaz Mendil (White Handkerchief) (1955), Legion Return (1957), Unknown Heroes (Unknown Heroes) (1958), and Alageyik (False Age and Tobacco Time) opposite Yılmaz Güney. However, his real breakthrough came with his portrayal of Camoka in the Karaoğlan films. With his ponytail emerging from his shaved head and his laughter as he rode a horse, he instantly became one of the most beloved characters in Turkish cinema. The Kartal who played Karaoğlan even surpassed Tibet. He became one of the most sought-after and indispensable actors of Yeşilçam (Turkish cinema). He played the good guy in many of Yılmaz Güney's films, and especially in Seyithan, he demonstrated how skillfully he could play the good guy. He also successfully played the good guy in many films by Sadri Alışıklı and Fikret Hakanlı.
