Born in 1981, he holds a master's degree in mass communication. He is the editor of The Daily Destination, a newspaper he launched in Islamabad in 2017. His family traces its roots to Rajouri. Here is the link to The Daily Destination. https://dailythedestination.com/ ************************************ During the interview, he challenged some of my statistics, particularly those related to poverty and the number of out-of-school children in Pakistan. He even went so far as to dismiss a statement by then-President Arif Alvi. Frankly, I find it difficult to accept that Mudassar Chaudhary is a more credible authority on this issue than the President of Pakistan. According to ChatGPT, India made remarkable progress in reducing multidimensional poverty, with the rate dropping from 29.17% in 2013–14 to 11.28% in 2022–23. This translates to about 248 million people moving out of poverty. In contrast, Pakistan's multidimensional poverty rate stood at 38.3%, according to the UNDP’s most recent available data from the 2017–18 PSLM survey. This reflects a significantly larger portion of the population facing deprivations in health, education, and living standards. Unfortunately, updated statistics for Pakistan are currently unavailable. As for the number of out-of-school children, President Arif Alvi acknowledged that 27 million Pakistani children were not attending school, urging both traditional and non-traditional methods to address the crisis. https://www.app.com.pk/national/presi... Mr. Mudassar Chaudhary also challenged the fact that Pakistani Hindus have been migrating to India in fairly large numbers. Here is the detailed report by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), the country’s most respected human rights organisation: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://hrcp-web.org/hrcpweb/wp-conte... Mudassar Chaudhary also claimed that slums and the shortage of toilets were not issues in Pakistan, unlike India. But are there truly no slums in Pakistani cities like Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, or Rawalpindi? Even Islamabad is not immune. As for toilet access, Imran Khan himself, while serving as prime minister, admitted that only 42% of Pakistanis had access to proper toilet facilities and acknowledged that India had surpassed Pakistan in this area. • Imran khan talking about toilets of Pakis... ************************************ Shakil Chaudhary is a journalist, author, and researcher. He is an alumnus of Government College, Lahore. Subsequently, he studied international relations at Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, and media at the London School of Economics. He has worked for several English-language newspapers. He has written a critically acclaimed bilingual book, Handbook of Functional English (Ferozsons), to help those who wish to improve their English skills. Prof. Tariq Rahman, one of the finest linguistic scholars in South Asia, has praised it in these words: “This book is an excellent guide for the South Asian user of the English language. It gives examples of both the British and American varieties of English and provides guidelines to avoid the common errors of most Pakistanis when they write and speak English. It is also a comprehensive guide for pronunciation, vocabulary, editing, and all other aspects of English usage. It has been written with great care and attention. I recommend it to students, editors, writers, and other users of English in Pakistan.” Shakil has conducted many workshops on communication, writing, and critical thinking skills.
