In 1991, Gigi was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." The movie starred Leslie Caron, Louis Jourdan and Maurice Chevalier. The film won the Oscar's 1959 Best Picture Award
