Hi, I'm Davide and I'm a security system installer. In this video, I'll try to explain why it's absolutely not normal for your alarm system siren to sound during a storm or during a power outage. I get asked every day if it's normal for the siren to sound during storms. It's absolutely not normal. When properly maintained, an intruder alarm system should behave completely normally during a power outage. I've simulated a power outage here in my lab, so we'll disconnect our control panel and demonstrate that the siren doesn't sound. Our alarm control panel is properly connected to the power supply, which I'll now disconnect. Our siren isn't sounding. Obviously, in this case, the alarm system's keypad will report the fault. After the programmed time, a text message or phone call will alert us of the fault, but the system in your home will remain armed and fully functional. Conversely, if our burglar alarm system were in poor condition, with no power, but the battery was in poor condition, this is what would happen if the power went out. Of course, when the power was restored, the siren would stop sounding, but this is absolutely not normal; the control panel battery is the main cause of this malfunction. I recommend replacing the battery in our systems every 3 years, using good-quality batteries. Batteries deteriorate, wear out, and lose their functionality, so they need to be replaced.
