Every day, Indonesians shop online, subscribe to apps, watch streaming, play games, buy digital goods, pay for cloud services, use social media, and advertise on global digital platforms. The question is: of all that digital money we spend, how much actually stays in Indonesia? How much goes to taxes? How much goes to the salaries of local talent? How much strengthens Indonesian MSMEs, creators, media, developers, and startups? And how much actually flows abroad as global revenue? According to a report by Google, Temasek, and Bain, Indonesia's digital economy is estimated to reach nearly IDR 1,600 trillion by 2025. This is no small figure. It's not just about apps. It's a new economic arena that must be intelligently regulated. In this video, I discuss why Indonesia cannot simply become a global digital market. Indonesia must begin building smart digital sovereignty: digital sovereignty that remains open to investment, but ensures that the value of the digital economy also has a multiplier effect on the national economy.
