I Failed to Reach Yemen

Cycling the world - Asia: episode 42 I leave Salalah and begin my ride toward the Yemen border, but the war unfolding across the Middle East has other plans. With a burning oil depot sending thick black smoke across the mountains, my intended route becomes impossible and I am forced to make difficult decisions. Along the coast I discover stunning beaches, share an unforgettable iftar with two Egyptian travellers and camp beside the Arabian Sea before tackling a brutal climb into the mountains. After reaching over 1200 metres and making it all the way to a military checkpoint, I realise the journey ahead is no longer viable. Defeated but with no other choice, I turn around and begin the long ride back toward Salalah, questioning everything as fresh injuries begin to threaten the adventure once again.
