In this episode, the sheer power of Sepultura live is revealed! In our first rig rundown, we'll explore the equipment used by Andreas Kisser, Paulo Xisto, Derrick Green, and Eloy Casagrande at the first show of the Machine Messiah tour in 2019. Dante Lucca, Andreas Kisser's guitar tech, shows off the Jackson and Charvel guitars (tuned to A# and D), the effects pedals, the Orange Rockerverb 100 MK II amplifiers, and even gives tips on microphone placement. Dante also presents Paulo Xisto's equipment, featuring his ZON Sonus and Legacy series basses (with Bartolini pickups) and Darkglass amplifiers. Visceral drummer Eloy Casagrande and drum tech Dedé Moreira dissect the entire drum kit: a Tama Starclassic Bubinga Birch (with 10", 12", 16", 18", snare drum (14"x5.5") and two 22" bass drums), Paiste cymbals from different lines, a Tama Iron Cobra pedal, and Evans drumheads (G2, Emad, and HD Dry). Eloy and Dedé also discuss double pedal versus two bass drums, the frequency of drumhead changes, and much more. To close with a flourish, front of house (or PA technician) André Kbelo Sangiacomo shows how he controls, on an Avid console, the 34 channels that bring the heaviness of Sepultura to the audience through center PAs, side PAs, and rear delay speakers. Kbelo explains why it's so important to preserve the band's sonic identity in the mix.
