There's Gold in the Gravel. Cycling and Exploring Central Otago, New Zealand. Summer 2025.

Our summer cycling holiday in Central Otago was an unforgettable adventure through some of New Zealand’s most stunning landscapes. Over four days, my wife and I biked the Otago Central Rail Trail, Lake Dunstan Trail, Roxburgh Gorge Trail, and Clutha Gold Trail, covering a breathtaking mix of historic railway lines, rugged gorges, and scenic river paths. Starting in Middlemarch, we cycled our way toward Beaumont, with our son providing invaluable support—dropping us off, meeting us for coffee breaks, and picking us up each day in our camper van. Along the way, we explored Naseby, St. Bathans, Cromwell, the Golden Prospect historic gold mine, and the Sutton Salt Lakes, immersing ourselves in the region’s rich gold-mining history and unique landscapes. From remote gravel trails to lakeside views, every ride was a highlight, and sharing the experience as a family made it even more special. Central Otago truly delivered an unforgettable summer escape!. --------------------------- Social Instagram: www.instagram.com/mark.samson.nz Facebook: www.facebook.com/mark.samson.waihi.nz --------------------------- Related Videos Tour Aotearoa:    • Tour Aotearoa 2016   Saint James Cycleway MTB:    • St James Cycleway Ride   Molesworth Muster Trail:    • Molesworth Muster Trail by MTB   --------------------------- Music --------------------------- Category Sports
