Maggie May - "MyFASD, My Voice". Webinar #4 in FASD Awareness Series.
In our recent Webinars, we have heard from the leading FASD medical practitioners, what it is like living alongside FASD as an adoptive parent and tonight we have the opportunity to hear what it has been like living with FASD through the lens of a young 25 year old woman with FASD. “How I overcame major obstacles at school and what I’ve learnt. What knowing I have FASD has given me and why I am unique.” Maggie may is one of the great voices amongst the FASD Community. She is a major advocate as someone who grew up in a fostering environment and finding out in her teens that she had a diagnosis of FASD. Maggie May is passionate about being an FASD ambassador and is eloquent in her descriptions of growing up with FASD. How people reacted to her as being different, how she responded and what strategies she put in place to fit in. Maggie May’s story is one that many individuals and their carers would be able to relate to and learn from. Both health and social professionals have been seeking advice, strategies and recommendations from Maggie May’s experiences to help gain a better understanding and implement better practices in communicating with and supporting those living with FASD. If you would like to sign up for one of our online parent/carer support groups, or our FASD Teenager Friendship Group or Adults Friendship Group hosted please register via our website https://www.fasdawareness.org.uk/supp...
