Hiralal Thakur was born on 14 March 1912 in a Punjabi family in Lahore (in present-day Pakistan), known as Hiralal, he was an Indian character actor known for his variety of roles Hindi films, he was called the first 'bad man of the Indian screen' for his portrayal of roles with negative shades. Hiralal also took part in India's independence movement and became an activist with the Indian National Congress. He died in 1981. His last movie was Waqt Waqt Ki Baat. His standout negative and character roles came in classics like Badal (1951), Do Bigha Zamin (1953), Nagin (1954), Gumnaam (1965), Aankhen (1968), Mr. Natwarlal (1979), and Kaalia (1981).
