Evading The Storm with extension - Kenpo self defense for an overhead stick attack
Self Defense Techniques: In this episode Mr James of Charm City Karate demonstrates Evading the Storm, which is a Kenpo self defense technique for an overhead club attack. Thanks to Mr Max for taking the whoopings! More on us here: www.charmcitykarate.com Evading The Storm (front right overhead club) 1. Standing naturally with feet together, move your left foot (to 10:00) into a left forward bow. 2. As your right extended outward blocks and grabs outside of opponent's right wrist, immediately deliver a right round kick to opponent's groin (left hand checks at chest). 3. Plant your right foot (to 1:00) into a right neutral bow as your right hand pulls opponent's right wrist down and past your right hip, and your left hand punches to his right ribs. This is done as you pivot into a right forward bow. 4. Deliver a left knee to outside of opponent's right thigh. 5. Plant left foot forward (gauging distance) and deliver a right round kick to opponent's inner right thigh. 6. Immediately after your right knee, plant your right foot into a front twist and immediately execute a left side kick to the inside of opponent's left knee to buckle him. Meanwhile, have your right hand hold on to his right wrist. 7. From your left kick plant (to 6:00) into a left neutral bow, and deliver a left vertical forearm strike to the back of your opponent's left elbow to break it (pull to your hip with your right hand as your left hand strikes forward and away from you as in Crossing Talon). 8. From your elbow strike, keep your elbows anchored, and put his right wrist in a butterfly wrist lock. Drop your left leg back to a front twist and unwind counterclockwise breaking opponent's wrist. 9. Deliver a right roundhouse kick to opponent's solar plexus (still holding his arm), then plant your right leg into a right twist over his right arm. Pivot out to a modified horse, breaking opponent's elbow. 10. Continue your counterclockwise pivot as you jump-switch and deliver a right roundhouse sweep across his face. 11. Right front crossover and cover out twice.
