In the midst of Trump's crusade against vessels allegedly laden with drugs that cross the Pacific and the Caribbean to reach the US coast, EL PAÍS travels in this documentary to the origin of the narco-submarines, in the Colombian jungle. The cameras venture with the Colombian army into the dense vegetation and winding meanders of the rivers, where drug traffickers began to build these semi-submersibles more than a decade ago, using rudimentary methods. This documentary reveals the inner workings of these vessels, how they are constructed, and how they achieve the autonomy needed to cross oceans on round trips. The story is told by its protagonists: the Colombian navy and police, Spanish agents collaborating in the fight against drug trafficking, and a drug trafficker who knows these vessels and their routes to Spain intimately. Narco-submarines are the silent, almost undetectable means by which cocaine is flooding Europe.
