Руслан Червяков. По краю пропасти: шоки и угрозы (1994–1996)

The third lecture in the series "The Nineties: Russia on the Path to Renewal." The victory of Boris Yeltsin and his team made it possible to establish a coherent political system. The adoption of the Russian Constitution in December 1993 paved the way for the establishment of a super-presidential republic and the formation of a strong welfare state. However, the challenges that arose along the way called into question the implementation of this plan. Social contradictions, financial collapse, a surge in crime, and the strengthening of centrifugal forces on the outskirts of the country brought the country to the brink of survival, leaving open the question: where will Russia go from here? The Basic Law: Is the New Constitution a Means of Legitimizing the Presidential Course? The New Government Bodies: The State Duma and the Federation Council – Rivals or Allies? Voucher Privatization: An Ill-Considered Reform or a Planned Deception? The Difficulties of State-Building: Threats to Russian Federalism. "Has the Specter Come?": Communist Revanche – Illusion or Reality? Ruslan Chervyakov, PhD in history, is a lecturer in the Department of Russian History of the 20th and 21st Centuries at the Faculty of History at Lomonosov Moscow State University. April 30, 2026
