Beyond the masks | Mamuthones and Bilmawn Chronicles | Documentary

When wandering through the southern streets of two different countries, you encounter cultural carnivals shaped by ancient folk rituals, performed to invoke blessings from the earth. Beyond the Masks is an ethnographic documentary exploring Bilmawn in southern Morocco, particularly Imintanout, and the Mamuthones of Sardinia in southern Italy. Despite the long distance between these traditions, both rituals share a strikingly similar atmosphere, spirit, and connection to ancestral memory.
