We're glad we did this! -- Haven Hammock Tent Heavy Rain Test

In this video, we put our used Haven hammock tents to the test in heavy rain to see if they hold up! We bought two used Haven hammocks on Geartrade—a regular-sized Kickstarter edition and an XL version. While the regular-sized hammock was too small for me, it was perfect for Punky. Eager to find an XL version, I found one on Geartrade that same night and purchased it. With no suitable trees in the backyard, I built a DIY hammock stand from piping. We set up the hammock just before a predicted storm to test it in real rain conditions. I opted for an open rainfly setup, which allowed me to enjoy the storm while staying dry. Despite the heavy downpour and water pooling around the hammock, I remained completely dry. This experience converted me into a "hammock guy"! The only water that entered was from my rain jacket on the ground and splashes from below. Punky's test a couple of weeks later had some water on the bug net, likely from condensation due to the rainfly touching the mesh. Both of us were thoroughly impressed with our Haven hammock tents and couldn't wait to use them in the wild.
