FBI warns of new phone scam wave tied to human trafficking, targeting bank accounts

A new FBI warning is highlighting a growing wave of phone scams designed to make people panic, drop their guard, and hand over access to their bank accounts — and investigators say some of the operations are tied to forced labor overseas. Las Vegas resident Juan Aquino said he has seen the scam messages and has grown skeptical of unexpected texts. “Man, I'm just like - someone's just trying to make some quick cash. Someone trying to scam me or trying to scam someone else,” Aquino said. He added, “I feel like no one should be texting you. If it's important, they'll call you, but I feel like if I get a random message, it's gotta be a scam.” Tasha Provost said she has also received scam messages. “They're scammers trying to steal my money,” Provost said. She said a colleague was victimized. “I've had a colleague at work who has fallen for a scam like that. She lost thousands of dollars. It was bad.” MORE: https://news3lv.com/news/local/fbi-wa... _______________ Never miss an upload from News 3 Las Vegas! Subscribe on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/News3Las...
