A few days in Europe´s Sunniest City - Best places to visit in Almeria!

Hey everyone! 👋 Welcome to our Spain travel challenge where we’re on a mission to visit all 52 capital provinces across the country! Today, we’re kicking things off in Europe’s sunniest city… Welcome to Almería! We were on a holiday nearby in a beautiful beach town called Aguadulce, just about 20 minutes from the city, so we decided to spend a full day exploring the best of Almería — and trust us, there’s a lot to see, even if you’re short on time. Our first stop was the Alcazaba — one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. It’s a massive Moorish fortress dating back to the 10th century, and it offers unbeatable panoramic views of Almería and the coastline. Walking through its ancient walls feels like stepping back in time! Next up — something a little more local! We headed to one of Almería’s most beloved hangouts: Kiosko Amalia. This is a traditional kiosk right in the heart of the plaza, where locals love to gather for drinks, snacks, and good conversation — basically, all the things Spaniards do best 😄 We tried their legendary Americano drink — a must if you're passing by! After that, we went underground — literally — to explore the Refugios de la Guerra Civil. These are underground tunnels built during the Spanish Civil War to protect civilians during air raids. It’s a powerful and moving experience that really makes you pause and reflect on the city’s past. We wrapped up our day at one of the most unique spots in Almería: the Cable Inglés. This old iron pier was originally used for loading minerals onto ships — but now, it’s one of the best places to watch the sunset in the city. Such a peaceful and photogenic way to end the day. Highly recommend if you're visiting! That was our day exploring Almería — a city full of history, sunshine, and local charm. 🌴 If you’re in the area or just passing through, these are the spots you absolutely shouldn’t miss, even if you only have a day or two.
