A young boy was flying a kite on a windy day. The higher the kite climbed, the more excited he became. Looking at the string, he thought, "This string is holding my kite back." So he cut it. For a brief moment the kite soared freely. Then, without the string to guide and support it, the kite lost stability and came crashing down. Many people live the same way. We often think freedom comes from being in control. We believe that if we could just manage every situation, direct every outcome, and have everything go according to our plans, life would be better.
