Anchors Aweigh - U.S. Navy Song [American Patriotic Song]

The United States Navy originated during the American Revolutionary War as the Continental Navy in 1775, was re-established in 1794, and gradually developed into a global maritime power. It played key roles in conflicts such as the War of 1812, the Civil War, and especially World War II, where it became the world’s dominant navy. During the Cold War it focused on nuclear deterrence and global presence, and today it operates worldwide as a “blue-water navy,” projecting power, securing trade routes, and supporting U.S. military and political interests. “Anchors Aweigh” is the unofficial march of the U.S. Navy, composed in 1906 by Charles A. Zimmermann. Originally written as a football fight song for the Naval Academy, it became a widely recognized naval anthem symbolizing departure, duty, and victory at sea, with its famous phrase meaning that a ship has lifted anchor and is underway.
