Sentinel Rock | Tramping in the Kaimai Range, NZ

Just a short drive from Tauranga is the Tuahu Track carpark in the Kaimai Mountain Range. From here it is a short but challenging 5km hike to the Sentinel Rock Lookout, which offers a spectacular view of the surrounding valley and to the coast. Note that DOC's website advises that 'the old track to the top of the rock is considered dangerous and should not be used'. On the way enjoy views of a spectacular 600 year old Kauri tree, lush forest and deep valleys.
