The topic of burning in fireplaces has been a hot topic lately, largely due to our politicians classifying firewood as a solid fuel. Wood supposedly is, but it's also a renewable fuel, and in the US, for example, it's treated as such. The result of this subtle difference in interpretation could be that modern, eco-friendly fireplaces will be banned in Poland, along with coal-fired stoves. Regardless, the amount of smoke produced and the economics of burning depend largely on what and how we burn it.
