The cellist of Auschwitz: Anita Lasker-Wallfisch - BBC Newsnight
Anita Lasker-Wallfisch was 18 years old when she was deported to Auschwitz in 1943, before being sent to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. She believes her ability to play the cello saved her life. Anita was liberated from Bergen-Belsen 75 years ago, on 15 April 1945. Newsnight interviewed Anita on Holocaust Memorial Day 2014, the 69th anniversary of the liberation Newsnight of Auschtwitz. Anita's son, distinguished cellist Raphael Wallfisch closed the programme with Jewish Song by Ernst Bloch.
