Our goal is to develop a systematic approach to bending. The first thing is bending to a note (having a target note). We can bend from half step below and do it really slow so we can hear all the sounds in between in order to train our ears. Next we will do the same thing with a whole step bend. Checking the tuning of the note and adjusting if it's necessary is crucial. The next thing is to work on pre bends, pre bending from a half step and a whole step above. Finally we will apply these concepts over a backing track.
