Nick Srnicek: AI and the Future of Economy | Elevate Festival 2024

Canadian-born digital economist Nick Srnicek has helped coin the term "Platform Capitalism" in his eponymous book. He engages with topics related to post-capitalism, politics, and labor. In his keynote he will explore AIs impact on the future of the global economy: It is common today to ask questions about 'what is the value of generative AI?' There are numerous debates about the economic impact of this new technology, with governments opening their wallets to support AI development, consultancy groups clambering to hype the future growth prospects, and board rooms discussing whether it’s all worth the investment. This talk, however, will ask a slightly different question – not what is the value of generative AI, but rather where is the value of generative AI?
