Board to Death Ep. 40 Emily Hopkins

This one is pretty epic. In this episode, Emily Hopkins and Russ Fro describe how they curated and refined their pedalboard to what it is today and allow for a seamless interactive performance. “The pedals that we picked for the board are not necessarily my favorite pedals of all time, because I have a lot of favorites, but these pedals are the ones I selected to develop the sound that I was looking for that I can use in performances,” Emily said. One feature that stands out is how she uses the Gamechanger Audio Plus pedal with the Astral Destiny in the effects loop to sustain notes and create a beautiful synth-like pad for Emily to perform over. She also has multiple pickups and outputs on her harp which allows her to send the bass notes through the Hizumitas for some gnarly contrast to the light ambient textures she plays over top. “I like having the [Hizumitas] on the bass because it lays down this heavy wall of fuzz that establishes the piece," Emily said.
