Tram Ride Through Nottingham & Lunchtime Workers, 1900 & 1902. AI Enhanced. BW.
This video is in two parts: 1900: Mitchell and Kenyon, the filmmakers, take the audience on a nostalgic journey through Edwardian Nottingham. They captured a captivating footage of the city by filming from the driver's platform of a tram during a single trip between its two main stations in the city centre. The route taken during this journey is the same as the present-day Nottingham Express Transit tramway, passing through Listergate and Wheelergate, leading to Old Market Square, then turning right into Long Row and proceeding towards Queen Street. During the Edwardian era, laceworkers rush back home for their lunch break. The footage, captured by Mitchell & Kenyon, is one of their earlier works in the "factory gate" genre and is filmed from an unusually elevated camera angle. As the workers of Thos. Adams and Co, a nearby lace factory, walk towards and beyond the camera, they curiously look upwards, perhaps attempting to catch a glimpse of what's happening. The film was screened at the Goose Fair in the Old Market Square in October 1900, as part of an exhibit of "Electric Living Pictures." ✔ Tone balanced, dark sections made lighter/light sections made darker. ✔ AI settings testing, optimised for the best upscale. ✔ Stabilised. ✔ Flicker reduced. ✔ Scratches, blemishes and other damage removed. ✔ Image noise removed. ✔ Image details recovered. ✔ Film sharpened. ✔ Upscaled to HD.
