On my Kyushu car camping trip, I visited a fishing village called Sakitsu in Amakusa, Kumamoto Prefecture. The Sakitsu Church there is a unique building made of concrete and wood due to financial difficulties, and its Gothic exterior incorporating Japanese elements is very appealing. Sakitsu is the only place in Kumamoto that is registered as a World Heritage Site.
