Everyone Thought It Was Chicken š± | Hidden Goan Xacuti Recipe 𤫠@Gāā oanspicehouse Learn how to make authentic Goan Xacuti recipe at š Home. This veg Xacuti made with raw jackfruit (kathal) tastes just like chicken and is full of rich coconut masala flavors. INGREDIENTS For soaking ⢠Raw jackfruit pieces ā 1 bowl ⢠Water ā as required ⢠Salt ā ½ tbsp For green paste ⢠Oil ā 2 tbsp ⢠Garlic cloves ā 5 ⢠Ginger ā ½ inch ⢠Green chillies ā 2 (less spicy) ⢠Fresh coriander leaves ā 1 cup For roasted coconut masala paste ⢠Oil ā 2 tbsp ⢠Garlic cloves ā 10ā12 ⢠Onions ā 2 large ⢠Grated coconut ā 1 cup / ½ coconut ⢠Turmeric powder ā ½ tbsp ⢠Garam masala ā 2 tbsp ⢠Water ā as needed For tadka ⢠Oil ā 2 tbsp ⢠Onions ā 2 large ⢠Tomato ā 1 medium ⢠Fresh coriander leaves ā a handful (chopped) Other ⢠Water ā as required ⢠Salt ā to taste ⢠Fresh coriander leaves ā finely chopped (for garnish) METHOD / PREPARATION Step 1: Soak the raw jackfruit Cut the raw jackfruit into pieces and soak them in salted water for 10ā15 minutes. Step 2: Prepare the green paste Heat 2 tbsp oil. Add garlic and ginger, and sautĆ© until the raw aroma disappears and it turns light golden. Add green chillies and coriander leaves. SautĆ© for 5ā6 minutes, then allow it to cool. Transfer to a grinder jar, add 2 tbsp water, and grind into a smooth, fine paste. Step 3: Marinate the jackfruit Drain the salted water from the jackfruit pieces. Add salt to taste, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, and the prepared green paste. Mix well and marinate for 15 minutes. Step 4: Prepare roasted coconut masala paste Heat 2 tbsp oil. Add garlic cloves and sautĆ© until light golden. Add onions and sautĆ© until soft and lightly golden. Add grated coconut and roast until aromatic. Transfer to a grinder jar. Add turmeric powder, garam masala, and required water. Grind into a smooth and fine paste. Step 5: Tadka & final cooking Heat 2 tbsp oil. Add onions and sautĆ© until soft. Add chopped coriander leaves and tomato, and cook until the tomato becomes soft. Add the marinated jackfruit pieces and a little water. Mix well and cook on low heat for 5ā6 minutes. Cover and cook on low heat until 70ā80% done. Add the ground masala paste and water to adjust the gravy consistency.Cover and cook for 15 minutes. Add salt to taste and cook for another 5 minutes. Once the gravy thickens slightly and the jackfruit is fully cooked, switch off the heat. Garnish with finely chopped fresh coriander leaves. SERVING Serve this delicious Goan Jackfruit Xacuti hot with pao, poee, chapati, or steamed rice.
