Sophie's Gift / Gift of Sofiyivka is one of the modern grandchildren of Nikita's Gift, it makes a lot of large orange fruit, and is a masterpiece of a persimmon from the orchard of Ukranian persimmon breeder Vasil Derevyanko. Meet this cultivar not yet available in the US. I realize that "Sophie's Gift" is a poor translation of the original name, Dar Sofiyivky, however in keeping with the tradition of mangling translations, as happened with Nikitskaya Bordovaya (Nikita Burgundy), which became "Nikita's Gift" I offer you this similarly easy-to-remember English mis-translation.
