The Murder Of A Balding English-Man (audio)
Back in high school, my younger brother came home grumbling about an “impossible” English assignment: write a 120-line poem. Being the helpful older brother (or perhaps the instigator), I wrote one for him instead. Our English teacher, Ed Wever, had a wonderful sense of humor, and thankfully he appreciated the joke. Fifty years later, I wondered what would happen if that long-forgotten poem became a traditional Irish-style folk ballad. This is the result. Dedicated with gratitude to Ed Wever, who taught me to love poetry, introduced me to Dylan Thomas and e.e. cummings, and encouraged a young writer’s slightly twisted sense of humor.
