After the Dark - By Julia Dill

Storytime — I wrote this song a year ago while our family was grieving for a loved one on hospice, battling cancer. I wrote the third verse a couple months ago while reflecting on life. Huge thank you to Justin Dill, Matt Murdick, Mike Ramsey, and Steve Young for helping me bring it to life. At its core, it’s a song of comfort and love. A reminder that some things can’t be buried by this broken world — love is one of the few things I think we get to carry with us beyond it. We spend a lot of years chasing summits, thinking the view from the top will be the thing that fills us. Trophies, titles, achievements… they’re dust. The real treasure isn’t on the mountaintop. It’s with the folks you rode through the hills and valleys with. The folks you stared up at the stars with and waded the rivers with. The folks you sang songs with. The ones who sit with you in the valley, laugh with you around the fire, and encourage you when the trail gets steep. The final verse is about that. If you’ve got people who love you, and you love them back — family, friends, a spouse — you’re already richer than most. Love is life’s greatest gift. And and I think it’s the only thing we take with us when we ride on. “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” — 1 Corinthians 13:13 Hope this song meets you wherever you are on the trail. ✌️❤️✝️ 1 Corinthians 13:13 — “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:8 — “Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” Matthew 6:19-21 — “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy... But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven... For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 — “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” Romans 8:38-39 — “Neither death nor life... nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Proverbs 17:17 — “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.” #country #newsong #harmonica #juliadill #fyp #love #newmusic #songwriter
