ALCAMO, Sunday, JULY 12, 2026 - A partially destroyed car, debris scattered for several meters across the roadway, and masonry parts torn off or collapsed. These are the aftermath of a serious traffic accident that occurred on Corso Generale Medici at 3:18 PM. At that precise time, the relative calm of this scorching, windy Sunday afternoon in Alcamo was suddenly shattered: residents in the neighborhood heard a roar similar to an explosion. Many looked out to see what had happened, and within minutes, the cause of the thunderous noise was clearly revealed to anyone in the Porta Trapani area. On Corso Generale Medici, a handful of meters from the Carabinieri barracks, the vehicle involved in the accident had just crashed into an old building located behind the Church of the Madonna delle Grazie. A passerby reported helping the driver out of the car, where the airbags had immediately deployed. No other people or vehicles were involved. The driver reportedly walked to the Carabinieri station shortly thereafter, the entrance of which is a few steps away.
