The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Board of Education will meet Friday morning for an emergency board meeting to consider a possible change to the 2025-2026 academic calendar. The emergency meeting comes as more than 1,800 teacher absences are pending for Friday, May 1, according to a public records request, raising questions about whether schools can operate as normal.
