The Idol of Certainty

Don't we all just love certainty and clarity? We all want clear and defined answers in the way we expect them. But if you're like me, you may be realizing that you have unknowingly idolized certainty and clarity to the detriment of your faith and trust in God. True faith is trusting Jesus when you don't know with 100% certainty what the next step entails. This conversation is definitely just the beginning of what I believe to be a season where God is pruning this idol out of me. I discuss the pride that has so easily creeped in by way of trying to validate my pursuits and it's left me exhausted and depleted. I've been striving, in a sense, to "maintain" my salvation because somewhere along the way I believed the lie that I needed to. I truly think God in his graciousness and mercy is allowing my "wick" to burn all the way out- for me to come to the end of myself- in order to fully grasp the necessity of the rest only Jesus can provide.
