Early Friday morning, a loud crash startled residents. Minutes later, water violently flooded homes and streets, sweeping away vehicles in its path. Rescuers rushed to the area to assist people calling for help from the second floor of their houses. The streets of San Francisco, a city located in the Apurímac, Ene, and Mantaro River Valley (VRAEM), were covered in mud and rocks. It is still unknown if anyone is missing.
