The current structure is the 6th generation, completed in December 2010 and designed to endure for a century. Ryugushin (Dragon Palace God): A striking limestone rock shaped by ocean waves. It is one of 23 sacred Utaki (praying sites) on the island, dedicated to the God of the Sea. During the traditional Haari (Sea Festival), rowers gather here to pray for safe passage. Oujima Kannondo Temple: Tracing its origins back to the 17th/18th century, this temple was built after islanders rescued and nursed the crew of a stranded Chinese ship.
