Why I chose Warcrow instead?

I am very new to wargaming - I’ve been learning and playing Wargames with my son Bishop and his best friend Landon, for a couple years. When we first started playing MCP we really enjoyed the game, but it bothered me that the story of each match didn’t matter. I couldn’t take the games very seriously because the team splashing is a very “gamey” mechanic. I also did not care for the repeated powers slapped onto multiple characters - everything felt muted and balanced like a board game. My son really liked the game, but Landon wasn’t that into it. MCP got boring to me, so I started looking for a new wargame. I played Kill Team shortly after MCP and I really liked a lot of things in Kill Team more than MCP. The long range firefights, cover rules and distinct factions were really good improvements in my book. My son liked the game fine, and Landon was okay with it. My main problem with Kill Team was the rules - Equipment, ploys, stratagems and faction rules all needed to be comprehended by a player all the time. Kill Team feels dense - and it’s not easy to teach new players. Kill Team felt overly complex everywhere except for the dice rolling. I started seriously considering Warcrow in October last year (2025). The game was strange looking and the lore made me really curious. #wargames #warcrow #wargaming #warhammer40k #killteam40k #necromunda #marvelcrisisprotocol
