The model is based on a 1/65 scale kit from Amati. As Amati ship model kits are often simplified for easier assembly, I am making significant modifications and corrections to certain elements. To gain a better understanding of how to revamp these construction elements, I am utilizing various resources, such as ship modeling materials, online information about 15th-16th century sailboats, and Xavier Pastor's book "The Ships of Christopher Columbus.
