NYC Drive: 96th Street from the FDR Drive to West End Avenue in a Crown Victoria going crosstown

Let's make the crosstown journey from the East side to the West Side on 96th Street through Central Park. The traffic is rather light as it is a weekend drive.We cover the Upper East Side and Upper West Side. We start at the FDR Drive and make it almost to Riverside Drive. For decades, 96th Street on the east side was the dividing line of the most stark wealth gap in the United States. South of 96th Street was upper middle class, with many actually being upper class. North of 96th Street was not just middle class or lower middle class. The area was home to one of the highest concentration of low income housing. Today, the gap is still there, but the area north of 96th has been undergoing gentrification. The lower income residents only have NYCHA (New York City Housing Authority for lower and middle income housing) housing as a reprieve. Enjoy the drive in a Crown Victoria.
