Born in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture. Has solo-circumnavigated the globe three times (as of January 25, 2008). Managed by Sports Biz. In 2000, he changed his name from Kojiro to Kojiro. In 2016, he became the first Japanese to compete in the Vendée Globe, the world's most grueling solo, round-the-world yacht race. He completed the race without stopping at any port from start to finish, but unfortunately, he retired on the 28th day due to a broken mast.
