BMW R 1200GS ADV Bike Trip, South Africa, Western Cape

4 Friends touring the Western Cape area of South Africa for 6 days on BMW R 1200 GS Adventures. The route was mostly farming gravel back roads and consisted of easy riding with only a few small sections of technical hill climbing and soft sand. Taking in what the area has to offer in great craft bears, wines, gin, local restaurants and absolutely breath-taking scenery. The route winding itself over and across the Swartberg mountains, 28 towns and no less than 17 mountain passes. Weather ranged from egg backing hot semi-desert on the "klein Karoo" side of the Swartberg mountains to refreshing misty rain on the coastal side. Places Of Interest Stellenbosch - Majeka House, guest house with a great lounge and bar area. Greyton - Artisan Brewery, "crafty" beer to still any traveler's thirst Riviersonderend - Biltong winkel (Shop), best South African roadside snack! Barrydale - Doorways Guest House, stunning exclusive and friendly owners. Barrydale - Meg Karoo Kitchen Bosch, Wow this small restaurant has the biggest hart, with flavors and influences from across the world. Luys Kloof Guest Farm, it has hard to get there but makes it hard to forget, the luxury, comfort and exclusive hide away makes it unforgettable. Prince Albert - Lazy Lizard, home baking wonders. Oudtshoorn - De Zeekoe Guest Farm, spoiled with great people and comfort food. Herbertsdale - Jakkelsvlei Private Cellar, South African hospitality and vibes capture in a bottle. Jongensfontein - Little Rock Guest House, the gem of Jongensfontein, relaxing, your home away from home. Stilbaai - Inverroche Distillery, flavors, colors and smells of the Karoo captured in a lovely GIN.
