This city of salt lakes has been home to all religions and nations for decades, it's the third-largest city in the country and serves as the administrative center of the Tuzla Canton in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Tuzla has a long history dating back to the Neolithic period, making it one of the oldest settlements in Europe. It was known for its salt deposits, which have been exploited since ancient times. The city flourished during the Ottoman period, and many architectural and cultural influences from this era are still visible today. Tuzla is known for its diverse cultural and religious heritage. It is home to Bosniaks, Croats, Serbs, and other ethnic groups. The city hosts several cultural festivals, including the Tuzla Film Festival and the Kaleidoscope International Youth Art Festival. Pannonian Lakes ( Panonska jezera Tuzla) are unique in Europe, these artificial salt lakes offer recreational activities and attract many visitors during the summer. The Pannonian Lakes (Slana jezera Tuzla) are filled with saline water, similar to the composition of sea water.
