Come gestire una crisi di liquidità aziendale: strategie e consigli pratici per le PMI

How can you overcome a corporate liquidity crisis? What countermeasures can you implement to avoid running out of cash while waiting for the financing you hope to obtain from banks? I can't give you a specific answer because I don't know your company yet, but I can offer some practical advice based on the experience of a Milanese entrepreneur I recently helped. Let me preface this. You shouldn't be left with nothing to your name before deciding to take action. Liquidity is the lifeblood of every business, and its shortage can cause even profitable businesses to fail. You must make immediate decisions when you realize liquidity is running low, acting immediately to avoid problems that won't be resolved in two or three months. Recently, I held a strategic consulting session with Matteo, an entrepreneur with a clothing store in downtown Milan. The chronic difficulty covering expenses (both fixed and variable) was evident. Unfortunately, his overworked accountant never had the time to give him the attention he needed. The financial statements weren't up to date, and we had to wait for months for incomplete documents. We therefore prepared a treasury schedule, analyzing cash flows to understand which expenses needed to be covered over the next three months and how much funding was available. Matteo had to pay suppliers, employees, and taxes, but he didn't have enough money to cover everything. So we defined priorities and began to address expenses. Here are the steps we followed for Matteo, which can help you too: 1. Set priorities: Prioritize expenses necessary to generate revenue and ensure business continuity. 2. Address expenses: Reduce fixed expenses and negotiate payment terms with suppliers to improve cash flow. 3. Engage your suppliers: Discuss your challenges clearly to obtain payment extensions. 4. Define replaceable and irreplaceable suppliers: Determine which suppliers are essential to generating revenue and which can be replaced. We've controlled the numbers, cut costs to generate positive cash flow, and negotiated with creditors, allowing Matteo to accumulate the cash needed to settle his outstanding debts.
