Journey to Wolf Rocks, A Backpacking Adventure! #scenicpennsylvania

In this Episode: As much as we love RVing as a family, backpacking with friends has become a big part of our journey! Here, I’m joined by friends ‪@dayhikedave‬ and ‪@MaksimOutdoors‬ for an adventure on the John P. Saylor Trail. Hiking with them has brought us some really good times, and this one was no exception! The John P. Saylor Trail is an 18 mile figure eight loop through the Gallitzin State Forest in Sommerset County Pennsylvania. The Southern Loop of the trail will enter into the Clear Shade Wild Area. The trail is mostly flat, and traverses dense bogs full of Cotton Grass and other wildflowers. It’s not scenery that Pennsylvania is known for, and that’s what makes this trail so unique. After spending an eerie quit night in an Adirondack shelter, we head back out on the trail for day 2! We’re into more flowery bogs and old railroad grades! We’ve managed to find some rare plant species while we’re traversing these bogs and some very interesting scenery! Once out of the bogs, we’ll make our way into Rocksylvania, because it wouldn’t be a hike in Pennsylvania without rocks. Wolf Rocks is a very unique feature in its own right, and while we didn’t intend to make camp there, it ended up being the perfect campsite. We were able to have a dinner, a fire, and just relax; before exploring the rocks the following morning. The rocks themselves offer plenty of caves and crevices to explore. If you climb atop the rocks, you’ll have a very unique perspective over the surrounding landscape. The three of us really enjoyed this backpacking adventure, and we can’t wait for the next one! I appreciate everyone, wholeheartedly, for following our adventures! I really hope to bring you more in the future. Please bear with us… Friends, welcome to our RV Camping and Adventure channel. Ryan and Rachel here, we are weekend warriors with a mission to highlight RVing in the eastern United States. We are joined by our daughter Sarah, son William, and our two dogs (Lilly and Theodore). Home is in Pennsylvania, and while PA is our favorite State to explore, we’ve found there’s much more to explore! We’ve traded in our Wildwood, and we’ll be camping from now on in our 2024 Salem 29View! We’re pulling it with our 2021 RAM 2500 BigHorn. We hope you will subscribe, join us on some of our adventures and be inspired to go on your own adventures.
