Physical and Natural Measures (Free Treatments) Rope Swing: In the early days, when small white butterflies (adult moths) are seen flying in the field, swing a thick rope over the crop. Bird Perches: 20-25 days after planting, bury dry twigs or bamboo sticks at various places in the field. Birds will come and perch on these and pick out the caterpillars. Limit Urea Use: Avoid over-applying urea to the field. Excessive urea makes the plants soft and sweet, which attracts caterpillars more quickly. 2.
