Waiting For A Lung Transplant - In The Hospital With A Collapsed Lung - An Interview With Dan

Meet Dan, a 43 year old from St Paul who has been dealing was diagnosed with an unknown lung disease over 10 years ago and has been living in the hospital for over a month due to suddenly having a collapsed lung that wouldn't heal. Dan tells his story about the 10 years leading up to his being listed for a lung transplant, his physical and mental struggles of living with lung disease, as well as the challenges of now being on the lung transplant list. Thankfully Dan had already been working on being listed for a double lung transplant and was almost though the process, although the sudden pneumothorax was an unexpected turn in his life story and caused him to spend about a month of his life living in the University of Minnesota's East Bank hospital. This was the first video I had recorded for The Lung Transplant Experience, we had a gap in both of our schedules and I grabbed my camera gear and ran over to record this single episode. This video was originally recorded on February 26 2026 and was put on the back burner for after the first few videos of the channel were published. I'm actually thankful that I did that as the vocal cord paralysis that I have been afflicted by from my transplant in June of 2025 is severely limiting my ability to speak, and having a few videos such as this is giving me the ability to continue this channel in the meantime while I await further treatment.
