The vacancy rate in the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police (PCERJ) in 2026 reached 10,247 vacant positions, more than 50% of the workforce. This video presents an updated picture of the vacancy rate in the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police based on the SEPOL/DGGP Job Chart, obtained by the members of the 2021 Exam Approved Candidates Commission via the Access to Information Portal. The Civil Police Officer position alone accounts for 85% of the entire PCERJ shortfall—8,696 vacant positions. The Organic Law (LC 204/2022, art. 34) provides for the opening of a competitive examination when the vacancy rate in the initial class reaches 35%; today, 7 out of 8 positions have already exceeded this limit. And there are 1,177 approved candidates awaiting their call-up, with the competition expiring in December 2027.
