Academy Of Tone #134: Jimi Hendrix’s 80th birthday: celebrating the life of a musical legend!
On this week’s Academy Of Tone, Thomas pays tribute to the icon that is Jimi Hendrix, in the week that would’ve seen the great man turn 80. A gigantic influence on guitar players now for over half a century, Jimi Hendrix’s all-too-short time on this earth saw him raise the electric guitar game to a totally new level, bringing new and mind-bending techniques to the masses. He performed legendary concerts – perhaps the most famous among them being Woodstock – and left behind a series of recordings that still influence countless guitar players and see Hendrix always at (or very near) the top of “greatest guitar player of all time” polls. Thomas, of course, is a Hendrix devotee! The playing and style of Hendrix have influenced him greatly since the early days of his journey on the electric guitar – to the point that he even has his own project, Blug Plays Hendrix, in tribute, and a Vintage Summer Of Love signature guitar in Hendrix’s honor. On the show, Thomas will take a deep dive into the world of Jimi Hendrix – the man, his career, his playing, his gear, and more. Thomas will explore a few of Hendrix’s standout songs, discuss the Blug Plays Hendrix Project – with samples from the two albums the group has released to date – and share with you some of the key things you need to do to get a bit of that Hendrix flair into your own playing! And we can’t forget the gear, either. Jimi Hendrix shocked the world numerous times with new and exciting guitar tones that players still strive for even today, and Thomas will showcase as many of these as he can. Jimi was famous for his use of Marshall amps and fuzz pedals, and there will be plenty on the show. Thomas has his own Hendrix-themed pedalboard, and will also showcase a number of other FX Hendrix used, from fuzzes and wah pedals to Univibes and more! And of course we’ll dial in AMP1 to really nail those genuine Hendrix tones. _________________________________________________ Get your AMP1 MERCURY EDITION and IRIDIUM EDITION with 3 YEARS WARRANTY and FREE SHIPPING (within EU): https://bluguitar.com/produkte/amp1/ _________________________________________________ BluGuitar's Cabinet brochure & manual: https://bluguitar.com/media/pdf/bc/23... _________________________________________________ The new "Academy of Tone" SHIRTs are finally available in our webshop:-) Get yours here: https://bluguitar.com/produkte/mercha...
