Born in 1971, he was not part of the Chinese classics generation. Born in Yeongcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, he was exposed to Chinese classics from a young age. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Chinese Language and Literature from Yonsei University, his bachelor's degree in Buddhist studies from Dongguk University, and his doctorate from the Academy of Korean Studies. His master's thesis, "The Discourse on Confucianism and Sino-Korean Convergence among Korean and Chinese Zen Masters," won the Wonhyo Academic Award, and his doctoral thesis, "Monk Tanheo's Thought on the Fourfold Communication of Society," was recently published. Ham Seok-heon and Yang Ju-dong, in particular, have dedicated themselves to studying Tanheo for over a decade, deeply versed in Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity, the Book of Changes, and the Book of Changes. Tanheo, who foresaw the future, including the Korean War, was so well-versed in Eastern studies that he was able to foresee the future.
