Emily Pike: The Search for Answers in a Tragic Homicide

14-year-old Emily Pike was last seen on January 27th, 2025, when she left her group home on foot in Mesa, Arizona. She was a Native American girl from the San Carlos Apache Tribe in Arizona. A multi-agency search ensued for her when she went missing, but sadly, a group of hikers discovered Emily's dismembered remains in trash bags off U.S. Highway 60 approximately 100 miles away from her home, northeast of Globe in Gila County. Her torso, head, and legs were found, but her arms remain missing. On February 27, 2025, the remains were identified as Emily’s, and her death was ruled a homicide. The Gila County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Mesa Police Department, San Carlos Apache Tribal Police, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and, as of early March 2025, the FBI, following the development of leads. No suspects have been publicly named, though Emily’s mother, Stephanie Dosela, mentioned that police referenced three potential suspects. Emily’s family and community have expressed grief and outrage, with vigils held in Mesa to honor her and raise awareness about the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) crisis.
